2008 Challenge:

The idea behind this challenge is that you'll be able to choose a prompt of a movie title and summary for a romantic comedy from the 1980s to the 2000s. You will then use this movie/summary to write a story of at least a thousand (1,000) words or create a piece of art either based directly on the movie or extrapolating from it. Stories can fit directly into the canon SGA-verse, or can be complete AUs—it's up to you. Any genre or rating is allowed. Gen, het, and slash stories are all welcome and encouraged.

Characters from SG-1 and other TV shows or movies starring SGA actors (e.g., Boa vs. Python, Thoughtcrimes, Pterodactyl) are allowed as crossovers. Other crossovers are not disallowed, but we would prefer if you stuck to the universes of SGA and your prompt.

We do not require a template when posting your work, but please include at least the following minimum information: Title, author, pairing, rating, any warnings/spoilers, prompt.

Prompts are listed in two separate posts, A-M and N-Z. Each prompt may be chosen only once for each medium—that is, two individual writers cannot share a prompt, though co-writing is allowed. However, a writer and an artist may both work from the same prompt.

To sign up, please leave a comment to this entry.

If you have any questions or need to drop out for any reason, please e-mail us at the comm e-mail account, reel.sga@gmail.com, or contact myself or smuffster individually.

Please feel free to sign up and pimp this challenge to all your friends!

2006 Challenge:

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

Ever thought that Sheppard and McKay would make a great screwball comedy couple? Ever
wondered if Cadman had the potential to be a luminous Hitchcock blonde? Ever suspected that Weir and Zelenka might secretly be as fleet-footed as Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire? Then this is the community for you!

The idea behind this community is that you'll be able to choose a prompt of a movie title and summary for a classic film from the 1930s to the 1960s. You will then use this summary to write a story of at least a thousand (1,000) words or create a piece of art either based directly on the film or extrapolating from it. Stories can fit directly into the canon SGA-verse, or can be complete AUs—it's up to you. Any genre or rating is allowed—stories can be as cracked out or as hard-boiled noirish as you want.
